Resolution #9

BEATLES PUNNY!

I hope all my readers had a fantastic and safe New Year. I didn't do anything special, just nommed on shrimp cocktail whilst watching "The Walking Dead" and "The Twilight Zone" marathons.

Well, now that 2014 has crept on to us, it's time to discuss resolutions! I'm gonna roll with this Beatles pun and list nine of 'em (I didn't have nine when I started this post, but meh, I'll wing it). I'm gonna list 'em in order of importance that I complete them.

1) DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS - My driving skills have improved vastly over the past year and driving through some pretty craptacular snowstorms without wrecking my car has certainly boosted my confidence. This year Crippie is gonna take driving lessons to relearn highway driving. I've already found a place near me that caters to "anxious drivers" so that's good. Not knowing how to drive on highways/fear of complicated roads/fear of going to completely foreign places has held me back for far too long. This year it ends.

2) DESIGN CRAP - I've been meaning to open a Society6 shop for some time, but I've been burned the hell out and haven't been able to think about what I want to put in it. Do I wanna draw pictures of guinea pigs riding dinosaurs or do I want to be a mature adult and make some pretty typographic pieces? (Yes that was an actual thought process for me) I think I'm started to get a better idea of what kind of work I want to put into the world, expect to see a shnazzy shop full of awesome prints and t-shirts sooner or later this year.

3) BLOGGING GOD DAMN IT - Clearly I sucked at blogging last year. Here's to hoping that I get my act together this year. As always, if any of you have anything you want me to write about, feel free to post in the comments.

4) OPEN AN ETSY STORE - I'm actually well on my way to completing this. I had an etsy store in the past for design stuff, but I'm gonna close that and turn it into something else. Y'all are just gonna have to wait and see what I have in store. MOAR PUNS! I'm on a roll tonight!

5) DO MORE EXERCISES - Once the weather stops sucking I intend on doing more physical therapy exercises. While last year wasn't horrible pain wise it wasn't great either. I've gotta do some strengthening exercises, they should help reduce some of my discomfort.

6) EVEN MORE OF A SOCIAL LIFE - I did fairly well with this resolution last year and I plan on continuing this resolution this year.

7) ACTUALLY SUBMIT CONTENT TO REDDIT INSTEAD OF LURKING - Yeah... I'm one of those people...

8) REGULATE SLEEP CYCLE - I've been getting better at sleeping, I'm rarely awake past 2:30am, which for me is very impressive. Not even remotely close to perfect, so this year I'll continue on improving that.

9) TAKE ONLINE DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE - Partly for my driving anxieties, mainly to lower my insurance rates. ;)

YAY! I did it! Nine resolutions, w000000t! Let's see how much of this I can accomplish :)
In the meantime, here's a song that's pretty much gonna be my theme song for 2014.

Resolutions and What Not

Hi Everybody!

I'm totally late on all of these New Year's posts... but whatever. While I didn't exactly accomplish all of my resolutions last year, I didn't fail miserably either. So here's my resolutions for 2013...

FREAKING DRIVING
Seriously, I need to get over this driving thing yesterday. It's really frustrating. Time for this buttercup to suck it up and drive to some places.

DESIGN ALL THE THINGS!
I'd love to expand my freelance horizons. I'm still working on setting up an online shop. Crippie's gotta hustle and make some money ;)

BLOG REGULARLY AGAIN, FOR REALZ
I have every intention of getting back to blogging every day. I'd also like to spruce up the place a little. I was thinking of doing theme days like "Music Monday". I dunno... what do you guys think? Anything you wanna see? And I plan to add a crap ton of adorable animal pictures :D

SOCIAL LIFE! FIND ONE!
Pretty much self explanatory... a social life would be loverly

That's pretty much it... I don't think I'm being unrealistic... we'll find out. In the meantime, I need to get to bed!

Crippie's Tippie - Be realistic when setting goals, otherwise you'll just feel like a failure

2012 Re(handi)cap!

Hi Everybody!

Are all my readers getting used to writing 2013 on everything yet? I'm still working on it ;)

Tonight I figured I'd take a look back and remember 2012...

JANUARY
- I lost my Emma. I still can't believe it's almost been a year since she left.

FEBRUARY
- Nellie, Frida, and Mama Pig became a trio!
- My heated blanket almost caught fire, beginning my quest for a proper heat pack

MARCH
- Thanks to my trusty heat pack NPH, I had a fairly good month pain wise... for once

APRIL
- I volunteered at a local animal shelter and watched two piggies
- Fanny the ass tumor begins her final assault, it's a terrible month pain wise and I have trouble sitting down

MAY
- Mama Pig got sick and we had a few very close calls. It took about the entire month for her to get better
- I had my first MRI... had to wait for a long ass time to get results

JUNE
- Finally got the damn results. It confirmed that Fanny was a massive tumor irritating my sciatic nerve. The decision on whether or not to have her removed was left completely to me... I decided to remove that mofo.

JULY
- Aggie injured her eye, said injury caused some very serious aggression issues and she had to be separated from Maggie
- CRIPPLEFEST! Single greatest week of my year right there. Hang out with ALL the cripples!

AUGUST
- Maggie moved in with Nellie, Frida, and Mama Pig... the Quartet was born
- We had a crap ton of people over at my house for my mother & grandmother's birthdays
- I made a pilgrimage to Bethel Woods!
- Holy crap Fanny was causing me SO MUCH PAIN

SEPTEMBER
- FANNY WAS REMOVED... PRAISE THE LAWD!
- My friend and I hosted a Scentsy Fundraiser. We raised over 300 dollars for the MHE Coalition and we obtained 20 stuffed animals to send to children having operations!

OCTOBER
- I returned to work after recovering from surgery and was pleasantly surprised by how much pain I was not in
- Hurricane Sandy... no power for 10 days... nuff said

NOVEMBER
- We got our power back, we spent the rest of the month being thankful

DECEMBER
- I turned 24!!!
- I took a vacation and went to Tennessee, as my prior post shows... it was awesome

So there ya have it folks, Crippie's year in a nutshell. Here's to hoping that 2013 brings more adventures!

Crippie's Tippie - Do you suck at remembering all the important/special things that happen in the year? Write 'em down somewhere, whether it be a journal or a blog. It's also good to have a physical record.

Crippie Crosses the Mason Dixon Line

CRIPPIE IS BACK EVERYONE!!!

And I swear NOW I will get back to regular posting. I had every intention of blogging during my vacation... but alas... no WiFi. Oh well. I hope y'all had an excellent New Years weekend. My week was certainly eventful. Ready for some pictures?

Friday - I spent 17 hours in the back seat of a car driving to Nashville.

Saturday - Pretty much chilled with the family. Did some grocery shopping. BTW, I walked around the grocery without a cane! Big step right there!

Sunday - I got to hang out with one of my cripple buddies! We walked around downtown Nashville (I used a cane because I know my limits) and had a jolly ol' time. I tried a bacon soda (not bad) and my cripple and I tried on some snazzy cowboy boots, only to find out that the tumors in our ankles, legs, and feet make boots like that really painful. So we took pictures to prove that we actually tried on said boots and took them off as fast as possible. But we had a great time and it was nice to be with a fellow cripple.

Monday - NEW YEAR'S EVE! My sister and I went to Franklin and walked around. I also went sans cane for that :) Later on the whole family met for lunch. I had some nomerful wings. After all the lunchness we went on a quick run to Costco. I actually managed to walk around Costco without a cane. I don't think I've ever done that before... super stores are crazy places. As for the actual New Year's Eve festivities I hung out at my aunt's house. We had lots of nosh and I got to watch Kathy Griffin's attempts at molesting Anderson Cooper. I also partook in a champagne toast for the New Year. It took lots of effort and lots of people laughing at my alcohol face... but I finished the damn glass of booze.

Tuesday - More sight seeing. Went to a big ass mall... I needed to use a wheelchair for that, but it was probably for the best. While there my sister and I spotted this super special sign.

Wednesday - We went to the Carnton Plantation, which was used as a field hospital during the Battle of Franklin. It was extremely interesting to see, especially considering you can still see blood stains on the floors. Carnton Plantation is also allegedly haunted... and I completely believe that. While in the "operating room" I got rather queazy. I NEVER GET QUEAZY! This is the person who asks for pictures of her tumors! The room didn't faze me at all. Once I left the room I felt better... and then when I went back into the room I felt sick again. Weird, right?

Later on I got to spend a lot of time with my relatives while have a very delicious dinner :3

Thursday - 16 hours in the back of a car. But I'm back in New York, safe and sound.

I certainly had a blast over the past week, now it's time to get back into the swing of things! HAPPY 2013 EVERYBODY!

Crippie's Tippie - Make sure you have lots of really awesome pain medications when you're traveling. You'll need 'em.

NHBPM - I Should Probably Do That...

Yo!

This is just not my year for NHPBM, I reckon missing the first 10 days kinda threw me off. Oh well. Did y'all have a lovely couple of days? I've been oddly busy and thus insanely tired. Today I had a lunch-in with my co-workers. While everyone was showing pictures of their children I whipped out my pictures of Frida dressed as a bumble bee. Needless to say she was a hit. I had a blast with my co-workers and I ate some delicious noms. Successful day was successful. I'm super tired but first... I MUST BLOG!!!

Tonight's NHPBM prompt is... If I could accomplish one thing in 2013 it would be...

Ok, first of all... am I the only one who cannot believe it's almost 2013? Now, if I could accomplish one thing in this rapidly approaching year it would be conquering my driving anxieties. As much as I hate to admit it, it's terribly limiting. I can only drive to a few select places by myself, and a few other places with someone else in the car. Otherwise I have a horrible feeling of being lost and not knowing what to do. Which lane do I go in? Did I miss a turn? What if a miss a turn? What if the GPS takes me on highway? What if I get lost, have a panic attack, and crash my car? Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh, these feelings suck and they need to stop. Baby steps I guess. I'll start driving to random places with someone in the car. Then I'll drive to more random places with just my GPS. Mayybbbeeeee I'll hire a driving instructor for a day for highway practice (you don't wanna screw up highway practice). I guess I just have to think about all the awesome freedom and independence that comes from being able to drive where ever my little heart desires. One good thing about driving anxiety... by hardly driving anywhere I save soooooooooo much money on gas. I was able to get through the whole Hurricane Sandy mess without waiting in a gas line :3

So my fellow crippled comrades, any tips for overcoming anxiety for me?

Crippie's Tippie - When in doubt... baby step your situation out

Crippie Actually Tries To Fulfill Her New Year's Resolutions

Ello!

I hope my readers had a fantastic Friday. Mine went relatively well. Emma went to the vet again today for a follow up. They think she has a bladder infection and needs 10 more days of antibiotics. On the bright side, Emma finds antibiotics to be delicious.
Crippie has been spending the past few days working on some New Year's resolutions. First I started with the learn web design one. I figured I'd limit this one to blogger design so I can customize blogs and all that fun stuff. I've starting looking at tutorials and code from other people's blogs and think I'm starting to get a gist of it. I made a blog for me to practice coding on, it's viewable HERE if you want to see my progress. I've also been making some typographic drawings that I'm gonna turn into a Society6 shop. YAY for progress!
Crippie actually should amend her resolution list to add something that I really need to do, regulate my sleep schedule. I used to have a really solid sleep schedule and I wouldn't go to bed terribly late. Now my sleep schedule is awful, thanks college. I'm not sure of the best way to regulate my sleep. The whole "just go to bed early" thing doesn't seem to work, it actually seems to cause discomfort. Should I go for herbal suppliments? Spend an hour walking up and down my driveway? Milk and turkey? Any suggestions readers?

Crippie's Tippie- If you want a shnazzy blog and can't design one on your own, there are tons of free backgrounds out there.

Resolutions & Such

Happy 2012 Y'all!

It's that time of year again, that time when Crippie makes a few resolutions that she probably won't be able to keep. I'm hoping that writing them here on "the interwebz" will help me remember/fulfill them

CRIPPIE'S 2012 GOALS & STUFF
LEARN WEB DESIGN- Crippie knows some verrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy basic html/coding things, but I suck at it. I'd like to relearn CSS and all that fun stuff. When I do learn this stuff, I wanna redesign the blog with all kinds of shnazzy things.
GET MORE FREELANCE CLIENTS- Crippie needs to expand her design horizons. I'm also thinking of setting up an online shop for my designs, sell prints, t-shirts, things of that nature. I was also thinking of mayyybbbeeeeee starting a design blog... but I dunno.
CLEAN MY GOD DAMNED ROOM- Crippie's room is a kinda messy and rather cluttered. I've decided that I'm gonna treat my room like a studio apartment, cause I'm probably not gonna be going anywhere for a few years.
LESSEN DRIVING ANXIETY- The whole driving anxiety thing is getting better... but I still have trouble going to new places by myself. I also NEED to learn how to drive on damn highway.
FIND SOME FORM OF SOCIAL LIFE- Crippie doesn't have much of a life outside of work, home, internet, and pets. Let's hope I can find some things outside of the house to occupy my time.

So that's about it, I don't think I'm being particularly unrealistic. I hope all my freakishly awesome readers had a lovely New Year's Eve/Day. Crippie didn't go to any parties or anything, I watched the ball drop with my family, dogs, and piggies. Frida was really happy because she got to watch Lady Gaga perform. Btw, if anyone thinks I'm kidding about that Lady Gaga thing I'm not. Frida LOVES Lady Gaga, she will just flatten out and purr listening to her music. Her favorite song is Poker Face but she also enjoys Bad Romance and Born This Way. Some of Crippie's relatives came over on New Year's day. We watched "Cyberbully" and had some pretty awesome food. All in all I'd say this weekend was purdy good.

Also, Emma is responding to the medicine! The tumor in her tummy hasn't changed yet, but even if it doesn't change I'm not terribly worried.

Completely random question for people who watched "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve"... Did Ryan Seacrest look weird to you? Everyone in my house was trying to figure out whether or not he had plastic surgery done.

Crippie's Tippie- Attempt to keep your resolutions and make this year really freakin' awesome. Not much of a tippie but I can't think of anything else.
