Piggie Post - New Cage!

Yo!

As promised today's post is completely devoted to PIGGIES, more specifically their new cage. Just a quick recap for new readers, two weeks ago I lost one my piggies, Emma. I couldn't leave her sister and cage mate Nellie alone. Crippie decided it would be best to move her in with another bonded pair, Mama Pig and Frida. Mama Pig is Nellie's mother and Frida is her sister so I figured they would eventually get alone. After a successful introduction and several "play dates" Crippie was confident that they would make a good trio. The only problem is that we didn't own a cage big enough to humanely contain three piggies.
The best cages for guinea pigs are "C&C Cages", essentially they are home made cages. They are made from shelving grids and corrugated plastic. These cages can be made by obtaining the supplies at hardware stores, but that involves cutting the plastic, and I can't do that. That problem had a really simple solution... internet. Crippie went to eBay and found a 2x4 cage with a 1x2 loft for a reasonable price... SWEET!
Once we got the cage assembled and ready to go we put the piggies in it. They absolutely love the cage. It must be like going from a studio apartment to a mansion. The pigs need to work on getting along with each other... but that will happen within the next few days.

Crippie's Tippie- Guinea pigs are a hhhhuuuuuuuugggggeeee responsibility. They require a lot of love, care, attention, food, supplies, etc. You can find more information on guinea pig care at www.guinealynx.com.

  1. Oh Crippie - they are so very adorable. I think I'd like to play with them. My mean sisfur won't let me in the cage tho to play with her gerbies. She's afraid I'll eat one of them, but I has no teeth, so no chance of that. Great cage.
