Crippie's Mixtape Madness!

Ohai Y'all!

Two posts in a week! I'm on a roll!

I hope all of my fabulous readers are well. I don't know about y'all, but the weather had been CRAZY by me. On Monday we had a hail storm! A hail storm in 90 degree weather... I don't get it. Luckily there was no damage to the house or the cars (and the hail was pretty big). Funny story about the hail storm. Angel decided that she loves hail storms and dragged my sister on a long and luxurious walk outside. From inside I watched Angel prance happily along while my sister yelled in pain from being pelted with hail. Needless to say that made my day ;)

Movin' on... I figured I'd share a mixtape for y'all today. Apparently people like my taste in music, so maybe I'll make this a weekly thing. Would you guys like that?

This week's mixtape is comprised of some old folk songs (or old folk songs recorded by modern artists) that have been stuck in my head recently.

Yup... I listen to stuff like this all the freaking time. My favorite Pandora station is the "Chad Mitchell Trio" station. I don't know about you guys, but I've had "Marching to Pretoria" stuck in my head for WEEKS! And I sincerely hope that I am not the only one that thinks the one of The Limeliters sounds like Mandy Patinkin.

So what do y'all think of my taste in music? Awesome? Horrible? Want to recommend something good for me to listen to? Tell me in the comments! I'm actually curious as to what y'all will recommend. Maybe next week I'll do a playlist of songs from this decade ;)

Lungs Are Flying Everywhere!

Yo!

Holy crap, I cannot believe that this blog has over 50,000 views!!! YOU GUYS ARE THE MOST AWESOME PEOPLE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!

Also, holy crap it's February. When the hell did that happen?

Well, this week has been another pain filled week for Crippie. I've been popping tylenols like a mad woman. Note to self... buy big ass thing of tylenol. 2,000mg of tylenol holds me over during the day when I can't take all my super fun drugs, I take my super fun drugs as soon as I get home.

I'm still relying on distractions to keep me comfortable. Mainly I've been listening to music to help shift my focus. Here's a little playlist of some of the stuff I've been listening too. I've kinda been on an old-timey music kick. Hope y'all enjoy

My other distraction has been the most annoying, frustrating, hilarious and addictive video game that can be found online. It's called... brace yourselves... SURGEON SIMULATOR 2013. Yup, you have to play surgeon and attempt to perform open-heart surgery. The game is so bizarre and ridiculous that it becomes awesome. I suck at video games in general, so it's pretty entertaining to watch me try to play this. One time I whacked the guys ribcage off with a hammer and threw his lungs on the floor. I've accepted the fact that I will never win this game, but I'm enjoying transferring my pain to the dude on the operating table. I'm trying to discover news ways of throwing this guy's lungs around. The game is free and can be found HERE. If you don't wanna play the game cause you suck at video games as much as I do, HERE is a video of someone else playing it.

As always, my animals have been providing the best distraction EVARRRRRR. Angel has been especially distracting recently. She's on a medication that is making her very perky. And I have a bag of beef jerky in my room. The result is this...

This keeps happening... every ten minutes. It's amusing as hell. Although it's really freaking creepy when she does it at 2am.

Oh, I created an account on yet another social media site, Vine. It's like instagram but with videos. So if you wanna see videos like THIS, follow me. I'm @icanhasdesign. Also, if you wanna follow me on instagram my username is scarwars10 :)

The weather is looking questionable for the next week, so it'll probably be another rough week pain wise. Any recommend any good distractions for me? Any awesome shows on netflix? Any stupid videos on YouTube? Any online games worth trying (Yes, I've tried Slender... I didn't find it scary)? I'm open to any suggestions :D

Crippie's Tippie - Beef Jerky may be a delicious treat for humans, but it is the doggie version of meth... use jerky with caution

NHBPM - That's My Jam!!!

Ohai!

I hope y'all are having an excellent weekend thus far. My weekend's been good, been very busy working but I'm not complainin'.

Today's NHBPM prompt is quite entertaining, and I could have done more with it if grooveshark would've let me share playists... oh well. The prompt is..

Health Playlist. Make a playlist for your health community.

Again, I couldn't embed a playlist here go I opted to pick one song that is epitome of awesome, an anthem for teh cripples everywhere, our jam if you will :)

Cripple Creek by The Avett Brothers on Grooveshark

Yup, I just went there. Anybody else have any awesome cripple songs that I could add to the playlist, IF I HAD ONE?!?!?!

Speaking of crippledness, I was definitely a bit of a special cripple today. I figured I'd summarize why with two photos

While I was at work today at my hand would hurt periodically, specifically one of my fingers. At first I thought nothing of it and brushed it off. But it kept freaking happening. Upon closer inspection I noticed that my finger was kinda swollen. In other words, a tumor on my finger has irritated whatever tissues are near it. It'll pass in a day or so, but in the meantime I'll avoid moving or bending it to prevent further irritation. What makes this scenario so special? Um... well... can you guess which finger I should be keeping elevated? SENSITIVE PEOPLE SCROLL PAST THIS PHOTO

If you guessed my middle finger, YOU ARE CORRECT! You get a cookie. I have decided to name the troll tumor Birdie, mainly because that's what I'll be flipping for the next day or so. Luckily it's starting to feel better already, let's keep our fingers crossed what I don't accidentally flip of any co-workers tomorrow :D

Crippie's Tippie - If you happen to injure your middle finger, consider wearing a finger brace... that way people will know that you probably didn't mean to flip them off. Also, while you have said brace on, be sure to casually flip people off... they'll think it was an accident!

Working With A Disability: Day 3

Hi Everybody!

Today was my third day of work. It went pretty well. I wasn't terribly achy, I guess the whole "not raining" thing helps. It also looks like I am going to be working more days a week, but fewer hours each day, so my chronic fatigue is very happy.
Speaking of chronic fatigue, I've been trying to find ways of coping with it during work. As mentioned in the prior post, I tried noshing on "smarties" which seems to work rather nicely. Naturally if I nosh on smarties several times a day every week I won't have teeth next year. The simple solution to this is obtain a crap load of chewing gum. Chewing gum is actually a highly accepted way of dealing with fatigue, pain, and short attention spans. Today I also experimented with listening to music. Of course this depends on where you work, but all the designers where I work listen to their headphones. As long as I only use one earbud my boss doesn't mind. Listening to music really helped me focus today.
On a totally different note, anyone who has checked out my Tumblr, might have seen this little face...
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the newest addition to my family, Helen. Helen is a three year old Shih Tzu who enjoys snuggles, food, and belly rubs. Helen is also blind (hence the name Helen) so she occasionally rams into a wall. Helen is technically my sister's dog so... I'M AN AUNTIE!

Crippie's Tippie- Don't let chronic fatigue get in the way of what you have to do, simple tricks can help you function pretty normally.

Happy Songs!

Hola!

I really cannot believe how well this blog hop is going. It's great to see how many people are getting involved. The amount of blogs about parents with one or more children with Autism blows my mind. Autism is a growing epidemic and we really need to figure out what the eff it causing it. Seriously, 1 in 155 (last time I checked) is an INSANE statistic. Essentially everyone knows someone with Autism. To find out more about Autism, click HERE

On to other topics, one trick I use to preserve my optimism/sanity is happy, uplifting music. Whenever things seem to be going down the crapper I play my "happy playlist" and it actually does make me feel better. I've heard and believe things like "angry people listen to angry music", so when I want to be happy I listen to happy music.

Thanks to the wonders of basic web design skills I can bring you playlists on my blog! If you guys like 'em I can make more when I find more songs I deem Crippie worthy. If you have any happy songs you want to recommend for future playlists, post a comment! Also I figured out how to make a badge for Crippie's Corner that you can post on your own blogs. I must say, I am enjoying "pimping out" this blog if you will.

Crippie's Tippie- Check out "The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease Research". Parkinson's Disease is a terrible illness that took my grandfather away almost two years ago. He would have been 82 today. Happy birthday Pop Pop, love ya lots.
